{"id":16,"date":"2021-03-17T06:52:23","date_gmt":"2021-03-17T06:52:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/fertafric\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2021-03-17T12:33:45","modified_gmt":"2021-03-17T12:33:45","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fertafric.org\/index.php\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Foundation for Economic Research and Training (FERT) is a registered, non-profit, non-governmental institution with the objective of carrying out socio-economic research and training in Nigeria, Africa and the developing world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FERT was established in 1995 to fill the gap existing between rigorous socio-economic research and reality. The output of such research would be useful to policy-makers and technocrats as they attempt to address problems of poverty and underdevelopment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Capacity building and training remain essential for instilling new skills, techniques, and re-tooling present and future generations of technocrats and policy-makers in an ever-changing global environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><h2>The Structure<\/h2>FERT is structured as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A board which sets policy, provides support for the annual programme of activities as well as approving the yearly work programme and budget.<\/li><li>Secretariat in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria as well as a branch office in Lagos, Nigeria\u2019s business capital.
